A few years ago a service tech from IR told me reciprocating air compressors don't need to be heated during the winter if the temperature doesn't drop below -10F when you plan to use it and you drain the tank soon after use The 3HP compressor in my unheated garage has been used semi-frequently during the winter for years and still works fine
