Yes, CivitAI is devoted exclusively to SD models and images, so it can optimize the user experience for that HF is for general use for AI researchers and enthusiast I just assume that most SD models are on civitai, but I guess some model makers dislike sites that smell commercial corporate

Yeah, CivitAI has had problems with people rigging or farming votes And it’s also swamped with people creating merges that add no real value or difference to pre-existing models CivitAI’s recent actions (doing contests and giveaways) is probably just incentivizing more of this quantity over quality behavior

CivitAI has first mover advantage To be fair, CivitAI is not a big website and there isn't much data (that can't be delivered through R2) it has to handle, compared to Reddit or YouTube Still, delivering something like CivitAI sustainably is very hard, and even with monetization, it would be hard to figure out how to be profitable

Yeah, it's getting to the point where I don't want to browse Civitai anymore, as it is too time-consuming scrolling past all the anime stuff to find anything worth checking out I have Anime and Anime Style in Hidden Tags under Account Settings, but if the uploader isn't forced to tag the upload, it is useless
