Hello I’m seeking advice on behalf of my mother who is currently undergoing treatment for stage 3B NSCLC She completed seven weeks of chemo radiation with typical side effects such as fatigue, nausea, and loss of appetite She did really well A week and a half after completing chemo radiation she had Durvalumab immunotherapy

drink a lot of water to counter the side effects I found that drinking plenty of water every day made a big difference in side effects It worked for the Platinum based chemo and the Durvalumab In my cased the side effects of the Durvalumab were a cough, fatigue and the unfortunate build up of fluid (Pleural effusion)

Cat Scan repeated in April 2019 for my complaints of shortness of breath Revealed Grade 3 pneumonitis Durvalumab x2 doses held and high dose Prednisone ordered Cat Scan repeated after Prednisone completed May 2019, pneumonitis resolved and Durvalumab restarted Tumor almost non existent Measures 1cm (original tumor measured 5cm)

You are getting this drug Durvalumab under compassionate drug use and is not funded under the public health in Canada yet and the treatment is fully paid by the drug company This compassionate drug use in what I read this can be applied if no trials are in the patients area, And must be referred by treating doctor under compassionate drug use

As a former Durvalumab user, I wanted to ask if you had your biomarker testing done before starting on the Immunotherapy? I too had the chemo and radiation and was then started on Durvalumab After receiving 18 infusions, a CT PET indicated a possible progression, so my ONC had a lung needle biopsy sample sent off for Biomarker testing

I have proof positive in JPEG images that it is actually working from March to May which would be the durva working but this is Robert McCauley's thread and I din't want to hijack it by "comparing colonoscopies" (so to speak) by posting a bunch of pictures of my innards, seeings how this is a durvalumab blog though, I did feel it critically

Just spent the last 4 hours reading the wealth of information shared by Durvalumab users I am 7 months in, 14 infusions behind me (2 infusions #9 and #10 held for symptomatic pneumonitis, infectious bronchitis, tachycardia and exertional SOB with resulting lowering of pulse oximetry saturation)
