GURPS is much more granular than Savage Worlds is, and GURPS has a grounded feel while Savage Worlds has a more action adventure feel You can tune either to occupy the natural territory of the other, but that takes a little effort so I would agree with D Diskhotep that picking a game closer to your default style will be easier overall
