Vanguard Healthcare (VGHCX) Big loss today by ulladulla28 » Wed Dec 18, 2019 3:30 am Anyone know what took VGHCX down 7 32% in one day? Most of its largest holdings had a flat or slightly positive day Just seems a little weird
- VHT vs VGHCX in taxable account - Bogleheads. org
VGHCX is an actively managed fund, which frequently sells stocks for capital gains; it will probably lose an extra 1% per year to taxes Thus, if you are going to hold a health-care fund in a taxable account, you should prefer the ETF; if you want VGHCX, hold it in your IRA
- Considering Vanguard Health Care Fund VGHCX - Bogleheads. org
The reason VHT is recommended over VGHCX is that VGHCX has a minimum investment of $100,000 The ETF buys into the same underlying fund Passive index is generally better than active fund, due to lower expenses and lack of manager risk That said, VGHCX still has a pretty low expense ratio for an active fund Just to clarify the acronyms:
- Thinking of investing in VGHCX and or Biotech - good or bad?
Vanguard doesn't have a biotech fund Vanguard has an actively managed health care sector mutual fund (VGHCX), and, also, an index health care sector index mutual fund and ETF (VHCIX VHT) Health care one of eleven GICS sectors Biotechnology is a industry, a narrow part of the health care sector

Re: VGHAX VGHCX ETF by tj » Sat Dec 19, 2020 4:59 pm What is confusing about Health Index funds in Vanguard, is the Investor Share fund is an ETF and the Admiral Share fund is a regular Mutual Fund There is no Investor Share Mutual Fund in Health Index Investor Shares went the way of the Dodo for Vanguard index funds
